Catch A Loved One Doing Good Today

How many times do we observe the bad things that happen in our world but neglect the good?

We look at the empty glass of milk that our child has been left on the table. Then we fail to see the reality that all the milk was ingested and will be working to improve their health.

We notice the little flaws in a project that was performed with love from our child but do not recognize the effort that was put into the end result.

Why do these things occur? How is it that we continually damage the ones we love the most?

Some will say that it is because we are trying to help them. We’re just trying to protect them from the world that they will run into down the road.

As for me, I would much rather experience the loving touch, listen to the heartfelt laughter or view the adoring glance than the ‘constructive criticism’.

It may be suggested that without this hard training we would surely fail upon entering the cold cruel world.

But, isn’t it better to know that you have a kind place to retreat to when the going gets rough than to be hesitant to ask your loved ones for help?

Here are a few suggestions that will help you produce a safe environment for your loved ones: 1. Practice a delighted tone of voice when receiving a telephone call from your partner, instead of an aggravated tone or a rushed tempo that indicates the partner’s call has disrupted important tasks (and inferring that they are less important) 2. Inquire about the dentist appointments or other details of the other person’s day 3. Put down the remote control, newspaper, or telephone as the other partner comes thru the door 4. Coming home at the promised time – or at least calling if there is a delay

What these things will do is help you show the other person that they are important to you. That they do count.

All this boils down to is the fact that we need to catch our loved ones doing something good each and every day. There are forever individuals out there waiting to tell them when and how they messed up.

If we follow Mohandas Gandhi’s statement, ‘Be the change that you want to see in the world’, our world will get a little bit better each day.
