There has been a recent medical breakthrough, which gives those recently diagnosed with type two diabetes the chance to reverse the condition. The number of people diagnosed with type diabetes in the UK has been on the increase in recent years. Today, 2.5 million people are affected by the condition in the UK alone. The condition can have massive consequences on the lives of those affected and as such, the recent news is most welcomed.
Many people, particularly residents of New York, September 11th 2001 can only be remembered for one thing; the collapse of the World Trade Centre. That day, the world stood still and looked on in horror as the unthinkable took place: two passenger jets crashed into the Twin Towers, bringing them tumbling to the ground and killing thousands of unsuspecting victims.
Most people have a pretty clear idea of what someone with type 2 diabetes is like – they’re overweight, don’t get enough exercise, and don’t eat a healthy diet. Whilst it is true that obesity significantly increases the risk of diabetes, the fact remains that 20% of people with type 2 diabetes are active, ostensibly healthy individuals.

Urgent measures need to be taken to mitigate the possibility of 85% of children and young people with diabetes facing amputation and blindness in later life, according to charity Diabetes UK. That’s a total of 20,000 people. The charity has called for more research on improving diabetes care and management, and highlighted the need for a focus on children.
The number of cases of type 1 diabetes in the UK has risen considerably in recent years. However, very few people actually know what the condition entails for those unfortunate enough to suffer from the condition. Type 1 diabetes is the condition by where the immune system attacks the cells of the pancreas that produce insulin. Insulin is a chemical that regulates the glucose levels in the blood and without this vital chemical, levels can become either dangerously high or too low.
A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) warns that people taking high-dose statins are increasing their chances of getting diabetes. Researchers found that people taking 80mg doses of simvastatin or atorvastatin (both of which are widely prescribed) over a period of 5 years were 12% more likely to develop type 2 diabetes. Nevertheless, the benefits outweigh the risks according to experts. Statins lower cholesterol, and therefore reduce the risk of heart attacks and strokes.
With diabetes on the increase and NHS reforms being debated, there are many people who are concerned about how the country will cope with this public health issue. In a project known as Diabetes Watch, charity Diabetes UK has recently undertaken its own research looking at the preparedness of the country’s hospitals to treat people with diabetes. The charity has revealed that there are three UK hospitals without any specialist diabetes nurses for inpatient care.
No matter the type of diabetes you are diagnosed with, reducing blood sugar is the main goal of any diabetic. It needs to be maintained due to the pancreas malfunctioning. The consequence of this malfunction is that not enough insulin is being generated or the cells which require that insulin are not responding in the way that they are expected to.
Anxiety can be brought about by a number of things for people; two of the most common though are social anxiety or anxiety brought on by upcoming events which might put pressure on a person. Because NLP helps people to control their mind and body so that they can come across to others in a certain way, it can help to alleviate anxiety a great deal and let people do things they would have previously struggled or been unable to do.
