Nodulocystic acne, most often simply called cystic acne it a type of the problem that causes masses that are often large and hard and sometimes filled with liquid. This kind of acne may form in many places on the body, but is most often found on the face. If you suffer from cystic acne, you need to use some special treatments. Use of these products can often lessen the appearance of acne cysts.

One key to treating cystic acne is to use gentle cleansers which are specially formulated for sensitive skin. Since cystic acne is inflammatory, the use of harsh cleansers can accentuate the problem. Instead, choose cleansers which have been made without the use of perfumes or harsh chemicals. Those chemicals can cause the skin to be irritated and overly dry. Instead choose a cleanser that is gentle and all natural if possible.

Avoid scrubbing the skin or use of abrasive cleansing products on your face. If the skin becomes too dry or is stripped of oils, the problem becomes worse. The most effective cleansing is done by lathering the face with the soap and rinsing with warm water.

Medicated creams that contain benzoyl peroxide are the only effective medications for cystic acne. This type of acne is very severe and the medication is one of the few treatments that actually do work.

The medication should be used in its lowest available strength, 2. 5 percent. Do not use the stronger solutions as they can cause further inflammation of this type of acne. Higher strengths can actually cause a chemical burn on the skin. In addition the product can cause the skin to become too dry and flaky. The cream should be massaged into the skin gently using the fingertips only. It needs to be spread around until it dries on the skin.

The final step is to add moisturizer to the skin. While many people fear that adding a moisturizer to already dried skin can cause further problems with oily skin, the exact opposite is true. If you allow your skin to become overly dry with the use of benzoyl peroxide, acne will take longer to heal. You will need an oil free moisturizer or lotion. Once again the moisturizer should be made for sensitive skin. Use a dime sized amount of the moisturizer on the skin after each use of benzoyl peroxide. This will lessen the chances of irritating the acne and keep skin soft.

Getting rid of acne can be a tough job. Be sure that you get the help you need.

Acne is, as we all know, an extremely common condition of the skin. Excess sebum production from the sebaceous glands clogs the pores, causing the creation of skin lesions. While acne can appear on the skin of people of all ages, it affects teenagers and young adults most often. There does often seem to be a hereditary factor.

The face, of course, is an area where acne often appears. Other frequent problem areas include the upper chest, back and neck. All of these are areas where there is a greater concentration of the sebaceous glands and follicles.

The increase in male hormones that is experienced in both boys and girls during their teens appears to be a primary cause of acne. Generally, people will have less and less as they get older until they reach their 20s when it mostly goes away. Other people will, unfortunately, continue to experience acne until much later in life.

As any woman can attest to, menstrual cycles are often preceded by development of acne. Scratching and any kind of skin irritation will also make it worse. Although scientists are not in complete agreement, there appears to be a correlation between the level of stress a person has and how severe is there acne.

Diet is another area that is still being studied with respect to acne. It does not seem as if chocolate is the problem food it was once considered. Dairy has been shown to have some effect on acne but it is possible that this is due to hormones in the milk rather than to something that is inherently natural. Some studies are indicating linkage between eating refined sugars and processed food with acne breakouts but more research needs to be done to confirm this.

Many products exist to treat acne but it appears that using more than one will achieve better results. The most effective medications also seem to have the most potential side effects. Consultation with a physician may be wise to avoid complications and find the best treatment protocol.

Treatments for acne include: topical antibiotics, oral antibiotics, topical antibacterials, oral retinoids, topical retinoids, sulfur, microdermabrasion, dermabrasion and laser treatment. There are herbal treatments available such as Chinese herbs, Ayurvedic herbs as well as calendula and other Western herbs. There is some belief that acne can be cured by going through a process of detoxification.

While not necessary for health in most cases, acne treatment can still be warranted. To keep from scarring is one such reason. But, more importantly, it may be vital for the emotional well being of teenagers. The teen years are already difficult on the self-esteem. Severe acne especially can lead to depression and thoughts of suicide. In these cases, early treatment is especially crucial.

We all know how embarrassing acne can be, especially when you’re young and image is everything, but I bet you didn’t know that acne is nearly as common in adults as it is in children! No matter what your age, the main problem facing people with acne is the worry of scarring, nobody wants to be covered in scars, especially when some of them can be permanent, but they can be prevented. Acne is easily treated if you begin preventative methods as soon as a breakout appears.

Water is a big factor in preventing acne, it is necessary to moisturize your skin and without the right amount of water a day (2 litres) your skin will dry out and produce more of the oils that cause spots. Water can also be helpful in shrinking acne that is already present, if you hold a few ice cubes wrapped in a cloth against your acne for about 10 minutes it can minimize swelling and prevent future breakouts.

Eating foods like meat, beans and fruit that are rich in zinc and vitamin c can strengthen your skin and protect it from acne damage and scarring. Caffeine can also have strong detrimental effects to your acne, as it dries out the skin and acts as a stimulant for the oil that causes acne. It may be hard to go a day without coffee or tea but it will make a huge difference to your skin and going without it can help clear the. Caffeine is best avoided altogether for your acne to clear faster as it has strong dehydrating qualities.

There are some medications which can be useful in healing and preventing acne. Benzoyl peroxide is the chemical which is often used in such medications, and is very effective in reducing inflammation and preventing future breakouts.

The state of your pores makes a huge difference to your acne problems, be sure to remove all make-up before sleep to stop it clogging your pores, and exfoliate your skin once a week to remove the dead skin cells that block pores and can lead to spots.

To prevent permanent acne scars it is essential to use acne medication as soon as the breakout begins. It can be tempting, but it’s important not to pick or squeeze the pimples, especially the more painful pus filled acne lesions. Picking at them can cause deep and permanent scars and spread the infection, making more pimples appear.

The most important thing when dealing with acne is to treat it early on, as soon as it appears so it can heal properly and quickly, and reduce the risk of scarring. As soon as the first breakout appears you should start using preventative methods and if need be go to the doctor, who can help by providing more effective, stronger medication.
