Quick analysis as well as proper treatment with regard to bipolar manic depression disorder offers every single individual one of the best possibility to living an ordinary lifetime. There are numerous options available with regard to bipolar treatments that are created specifically to aid diagnosed sufferers manage their particular chronic and episodic mood swings. In addition they offer all the necessary methods for keeping instances such as spouse separations, employment loss, as well as drinking or even substance abuse that are most probably to happen if the disease is still left untreated. Noncompliance to bipolar manic depressive disorder remedies is the number one healing concern. With no treatment bipolar disorder ultimately moves to difficulties in concentration as well as abnormal behaviors that may significantly have an effect on the patient’s behavior, relations, career and their general way of life.

Exactly what is Bipolar Disorder

Bipolar manic depression or bipolar is one kind of mental conditions that causes substantial disruptions to an individuals life and way of life. It is a kind of mood problem, characterized by suffering from infrequent highs as well as lows of moods or mood swings which can go from feeling extremely unhappy and despairingly helpless to feeling such as being on top of the world. As the name suggests, it refers to episodes of sudden shifts between two opposite poles of moods, sadness to euphoria or vice versa. Such symptoms drastically impact one’s tendencies, which describes the importance of complying to correct bipolar treatment plans. Depressive disorder symptoms might cause life-threatening outcomes such as thoughts of suicide, real act of suicides and even killing of another. However, severe mania can result in unsafe risk-taking conducts like aggressiveness, free sexual encounters and homicidal tendencies. In the event of merged condition, an individual diagnosed of bipolar disorder could experience symptoms of the two manias and also depression.

Causes and Symptoms

One of many ways of finding out the appropriate bipolar treatment solutions is the assessment of the sources of bipolar manic depression or bipolar disorder. The condition might be given through genes because as it runs in loved ones. Such abnormality is shown as a genetic abnormality, which progresses into chemical unbalances of the human brain. The numerous-faceted causes of bipolar disorder contain abnormal brain behavior for example over secretion of cortisol (stress hormone) and abnormal hyperactivity of the neuron parts that rule over emotion and activity. Exposure to infectious agents like the Borna virus and herpes simplex 2 viruses was even linked to bipolar manic depression cases.

Symptoms usually appear during the adolescence period to early adulthood and can continue till old age. Failure to comply with necessary bipolar treatments will only make patients suffer throughout their lifetime.

Bipolar manic depression Treatments

Patients may be advised to follow a combination of bipolar treatments to effectively take control over their bipolar symptoms. Medical treatment usually involves medications such as mood stabilizers. This usually goes with counseling schedules with a therapist. Counseling period does not only involve the patient but also their families and friends, helping everyone get through the disease altogether. Group therapy or one on one session may be included with outpatient visits. Patients who pose danger to themselves may require psychiatric hospitalization to receive proper monitoring of medications as well as the effect of such medications.

Each patient has unique response to treatment. Hence, what may be effective to one may not be as effective to another bipolar sufferer. It is important to consult a medical professional to be guided in selecting the right combination of treatment and in setting a clear road to recovery.

Bipolar Children at a very young age have shown symptoms which only later were diagnosed as bipolar. Some have their first symptoms of this illness identified during childhood, and others develop them later in life. This illness can be genetic, especially for those children s parents who have the illness compared with those whose parents are not with the disease.

Some Symptoms to Look out for

There are common signs of this mental illness like severe mood swings. These mood swings are so vast that the experience can be high followed straight after by low, calm then extreme anger in a matter of few minutes. Young children with severe manic symptoms get bad tempered and liable to destructive tantrums and be overly happy in one breath. These children can be terrific when compliant to their drugs but without their prescribed drug they can get extremely angry and bad tempered.

Other Signs

Because other problems and emotional changes are occurring within these age groups, this disorder in young ones is not easy to diagnose. Irritability and aggressiveness can indicate bipolar illness but they can also be signs of other mental health illness like attention deficit, oppositional conduct, defiant disorder and even hyperactivity disorder. Depression or schizophrenia is also found in this age groups. Those on illicit drug abuse can lead to symptoms close to that of bipolar. Older adolescents has a much closer link to the adult-type episodes and its symptoms than those younger adolescent.

Physical Signs

This illness has seen some children use bad language to their parents, tend to run away from school, are dishonest and disobedient. It is usual for those with this disease to be moody irritable and get angry more often than normal. When they are going through symptoms of depression their self-esteem, confidence and ambition can take a turn for the worse.

Advising Words

Like any other mental disease, bipolar disorder is a long-term illness that must be carefully managed throughout a patients life. Appropriate diagnosis for those with the disorder is needed for an effective treatment. If your child is showing emotional and behavioral symptoms do not hesitate to let them be evaluated by a mental health professional. On the other hand if they start talking about suicide or become suicidal, take them seriously and refer them to the health specialists in your area.

It is a proven fact that filtered water tastes much better than tap water. The smell is also much better due to the adsence of chlorine and bacteria. The prime choices for filtered water are Katadyn water filters and kitchen aid water filters due to their outstanding quality and evolutionary features. Katadyn water filters and Kitchenaid filters are also cheaper than other bottled waters, they are reasonably priced so except a lot more savings. Its obvious but not widely practiced that if you want healthier and better tasting water try the wide variety of water filters.

Katadyn water filters specialize in outdoor camping, backpacking and travel water filters. The main three series put out by Katadyn are Endurance, the Backcountry and the Ultra light. From experience I can say that all three series work greatly to provide good clean drinking water for all out door sporting enthusiasts. The endurance series is effective for turbid water. This type of water can be found in lakes, streams and rivers. The containments in turbid water is generally cause from sediments or dirt particles in the water, this gives the color of the water a very cloudy look. Phytoplankton build up in turbid water is caused from human factors such as environmental disturbances, storm water run off or construction around the area.

Katadyn Water Filters for the Out Doors

Endurance series is focused more on supplying filtered water to 4 to 5 people. The Backcountry Series is geared more toward one to two people whilst the Ultralight series is suited for just one person. Mind you all of these series are incredibly portable and very durable when it comes to outdoor use. However, they vary in their capacity levels, so it is important that you know what your needs are and how you plan to use the filter when you make your selection. Water filters in the Ultralight Series are designed for light use and easy to pack.

Ideal for campers and hikers is the Backcountry series. These water filters are also light weight to use and can handle turbid water as well. Depending on the condition of the water, there are several different filters to choose from. The Backcountry series is the mid selection between the rugged endurance and the smaller Ultralight series.

Kitchen Aid Filters

Kitchen Aid offers a wide variety of water filters for home use. They are installed by either twisting them or pushing them into place in the water filter system that is in your refrigerator. These filters remove many different impurities and contaminants from your drinking water, including lead, mercury, benzene, chlorobenzene, ethylbenzene, asbestos, cysts, alachlor, endrin, lindane and many more. However, no refrigerator water filters that are built in to the appliance remove fluoride.

With its versatile system Kitchenaid is the most popular easy to use brands around the world. This popularity is due to its reliability, affordability and consistency always providing clean pure water with every glass. After six months of use these filters need to be changed and replaced with a new filter. If you have a refrigerator filter than this also needs to be changed every six months or else water quality will be poor. Kitchenaid filters can get rid of every type of bacteria except fluoride. Fluoride isnt as harmful like other bacteria however in extremely concentrated quantities this causes minor health problems.

Both Katadyn Water Filters & Kitchen Aid Filters provide the same end product, clean, fresh drinking water; the difference is in the method of use. Whether you are camping and hiking, using a Katadyn water filter, or in your home using a Kitchen Aid water filter, you will certainly be pleased with the quality of water you get with these top notch water filters.

Bipolar in children and symptoms of bipolar covers a ranging degree of seriousness. It is occasionally difficult to detect the symptoms of bipolar and bipolar in children due to this as confusion with other issues like hyperactivity, attention deficit or allergies in children. This can also be misconstrued in adults as other things especially if they are on drugs and/or alcohol.

Manic Depression is what we now know as Bipolar Disorder. While it can be hereditary and environmental, according to studies it is suggested that the primary cause of this is due to a shortage of Serotonin, a natural occurring chemical that balances and controls mood. Extreme mood swings are the main symptom due to the shortage of Serotonin but there are also other things to look out for as there are four phases to the disorder.

The Four Phases Along With the Typical Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder:

Mania or Manic, Hypomania, Depression and Mixed episode are the four phases or moods that are split on each side of normal and balanced moods that most people vary little from. They can vary in degrees, and some people are more prone to episodes of mania over depression or vice versa, but some can alternate frequently or infrequently between the two sides of normal.

People usually talk fast and seem generally hyperactive when in the mania or manic phase because it causes them to have extreme energy and euphoria.

The hypomania stage is less severe than the manic phase. Here, people tend to live their everyday lives in a way that outsiders describe as an overly happy person. Because of this, it is harder to recognize but sometimes the impulsive tendency comes through. At some point, they go into a full blown manic episode.

In the depression phase, there is a tendency to sleep more, gain weight, have higher irritability and unpredictable mood swings involving guilt and can lose touch with reality.

When a mix of high energy with a depressed mood is experienced, this is known as the Mixed Emotion Phase. It can also be counted as a combination of anxiety mixed with racing thoughts.

The Usual Symptoms of Bipolar in Children:

Similar to the four phases are the typical symptoms of bipolar in children who include irritability, frequent mood swings, hyperactivity and impulsivity, restless and fidgeting.

In studies, it was shown that up to 80% of bipolar children may come from families where both parents were either alcoholics or parents that also have bipolar disorder or both.

The symptoms of bipolar in children fit the ADHD (Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) due to the guidelines set out for diagnosing it. However, it is not recognized until later in life.

Conclusion:

It is vital that the symptoms of bipolar in children be diagnosed as early as possible as episodes may get worse in time.

Bipolar disorder, otherwise known as manic depression or bipolar depression, is a life-threatening mood disorder that affects a significant 2.6% of the American population, ages 18 and above. However, the symptoms of bipolar can start early in life and that bipolar in children is most likely to occur when parents have the illness. Furthermore, unlike adult bipolar disorder, bipolar in children are difficult to recognize. As such, it is advantageous to keep abreast with updated information about the condition and become attentive to the signs.

Bipolar Symptoms in Children

Bipolar disorder is a brain disorder that adversely affects the persons thoughts, mood, energy, behavior, and social interactions. Individuals with the condition display unpredictable mood swings characterized by manic episodes (increased energy, restlessness, and distractibility) as well as depressive episodes (empty mood, pessimism, feeling of fatigue, suicidal thoughts and attempts).

These dramatic changes in mood can go very fast in children resulting in them being unrecognized in daily activities. Extreme irritability is the outcome of these continuous mood disruptions. Parents whose children were diagnosed with bipolar disorder based on the DSM IV criteria have found similar signs and symptoms to be established in their kids. Such signs and symptoms are lack of interest in activities, destructive and prolonged anger outbursts or tantrums, disrupted sleeping patterns, bed wetting and nightmares, impulsivity and irrational thoughts, defiance of authority, tendency to get absorbed in multiple activities, hunger for carbohydrates and sugar-rich delights, involvement in risky or dangerous behaviors, hyperactivity and anxiety, delusions and hallucinations, and thoughts of death and suicide.

Other Developmental Disorders and Bipolar In Children

Taking a look at some of the bipolar symptoms in children makes us realize that they are also characteristic of other common pediatric illnesses. These include the hyperactive-impulsive behavior that is also apparent in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The tangential thought patterns and delusions of major depression and schizophrenia and the rebellious and damaging actions associated with conduct and oppositional defiant disorder. A proper diagnosis for bipolar in children is a must to carry out the best treatment strategies for the disorder.

Getting Help for Children with Bipolar Disorder

Evidently, bipolar disorder in children is a challenging task that needs urgent attention. Early interventions are called for so that the chance of achieving mood stability can be increased and the adverse effects considerably reduced. Parents should actively work with a mental health professional and be ready with accurate observations and notes of the childs behavior. If possible, a licensed and well-experienced child psychiatrist should be consulted to conduct appropriate diagnosis using two or more sessions.

Otherwise, the family may consult with an adult psychiatrist who has extensive background in mood disorders and have experience treating children and adolescents. Medical professionals such as pediatric neurologists and developmental pediatricians are also helpful in acquiring initial assessments for the child. What is important is that these experts can help implement the kind of therapy that will be effective for the child before it is too late.

Thus, the next time you hear children talk about death or suicide at a time when he or she is displaying all the other symptoms of bipolar in children, take it seriously and get help as soon as you can.

Your friends introduced you to a new member in your theater actors guild. She easily caught everybodys attention with her energy and extraordinary cheeriness. That nights practice has ended and everybody was raring to get home. However, your new found friend surprisingly invited you to go the disco. You declined but gave her your home number instead. You awoke to a call and heard her sobbing on the phone. She was ranting about how miserable her life is and how she just wants to end her life right there and then! Nobody would want to be in this shocking situation but what you just read is a reality of a brain disorder called bipolar mania or manic-depressive illness.

All about Bipolar Mania

This bipolar mania is a biological disorder characterized by manic and depressive episodes. A person suffering from bipolar disorder displays symptoms of extreme exhilaration at one instant then severe depression the next, as described above. Particularly, the manic signs and symptoms involve amplified energy, disturbing behavior, poor judgment, nervousness, and a reduced need for sleep. On the other hand, the depressive state is known by feelings of hopelessness, intense grief, and a loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities among others. The fact that is most frightening about bipolar mania is that an individual may resort to suicide if untreated.

Statistics have shown that bipolar mania is affecting a major number of individuals in the United States. Millions of her total population have been recorded to be affected with bipolar mania. Everybody wishes that it would not happen to themselves or their loved ones but if it somehow does, they must get ready with all the vital information especially on how to get the best hep available.

Treatment

Though bipolar mania is a long term challenge, the condition can be treated through a combination of approaches. The first is through the medical method. Mood stabilizers are the medications available for this condition. The more common one is Lithium (Eskalith, Lithobid) while others are prescribed with anticonvulsant medicines such as valproate (Depakote) or carbamazepine (Tegretol). On top of this, individuals with bipolar mania also see mental health professionals for cognitive or behavioral psychotherapy. Psychosocial approaches to bipolar mania are deemed important to recovery as it involves psychoeducation, family therapy and interpersonal therapy.

The Bipolar Support Groups

On the other hand, no medical or psychological approach is successful if its not used in conjunction with other methods. Joining bipolar support groups is an invaluable resource for an individual with bipolar mania. Bipolar support groups are very educational because various discussions about the disorder are made at length. More than the information though is the sharing of true-to-life experiences that makes the group relate well to each other.

Being part of a support group offers a warm environment where a person doesnt have to feel alone and alienated from others. Furthermore, bipolar support groups provide an opportunity to openly talk about the hardships and the pains while gaining acceptance from others. Together, the group can brainstorm about local resources and how to get government support.

Intelligent Prognosis

Its important that a person with bipolar mania can or can not cope with the disorder. The real question though is whether they get into a bipolar support group which will see them through the process. This is the real determinant which has treatment value. Individuals with bipolar mania are on their way to a fully-functioning life with the right kind of help from the right kind of people.

The classifications within the broader term of bipolar disorder have narrowed due to the increased number of studies and diagnosis done over a number of years. One of these narrowing classifications that have helped to identify the various types and kinds of bipolar is bipolar 2. People who suffer from bipolar 2 often experience symptoms such as swinging from depressed to hypo manic states without the manic states or manic depression that is found in bipolar 1.

Recognizing the Signs of Bipolar and Bipolar 2

Recognizing manic depression in general is not as difficult as recognizing the characteristics of the individual types of bipolar. In some cases, the distinctions between the various types can be subtle and hard to recognize. In order to recognize if a person is suffering from Bipolar 2 it is essential to be able to recognize another type of mild bipolar known as hypomania, which forms one of the symptom sets for this form of bipolar.

A person suffering just from hypomania runs in cycles between the productive manic phase and what would be classified as baseline or normal. They rarely become depressed and rarely have manic episodes. For those with Bipolar 2 it simply means that they do not extend far enough into the manic portion of the cycle to have a true manic episode however, they will cycle back to normal and then down into depression before returning to complete the cycle.

This has to be one of the main differences between bipolar manic depression and this form of bipolar. Symptoms of depression are associated with people who have bipolar 2. In some cases, they will cycle upwards rapidly to normal behavior and than into the hypo manic phase.

It is usually characterized by high energy but very rarely has excessively dangerous activities. For instance, a person maybe talkative, hyper, even up to the stage of cleaning their home to an extensive degree. They may also be highly productive on a project or may even spend excessively though they rarely spend to the point of endangering finances.

Treatment Options of Bipolar 2

Anti depressants is the usual treatment for normal bipolar manic depressions. It works well but can actually cause problems for people with other types of bipolar. Mild doses of antidepressants or even anticonvulsants which often have mood stabilizing properties can provide benefits without creating negative side effects. Therapy is also another option for people with Bipolar 2.

There are treatment options available for bipolar 2 sufferers that will help them to lead a normal life. To ensure this, it is imperative that you are diagnosed and help is acquired. Some people are too embarrassed to seek the help of health professionals and this often prevents the possibility of them leading a full and normal life. Your life at home and even your ability to hold a job and provide for your family can be affected by bipolar 2 and bipolar affective disorder. But this does not have to happen. You have to seek help and educate yourself to reclaim your life.

Manic-depressive illness or bipolar disorder is a serious brain illness. The person has a good chance of doing well if managed well. This brain illness is marked by extreme behavioral, mood and energy changes. This manic-depressive illness can be treated during infant years but this illness is more common in adolescent and adult stages.

Manic-depressive illness can look different in children than in adults. Usually children with this brain illness have mood disturbance (a mix of mania and depression) that is ongoing and continuous. A traumatic event or loss can trigger episodes of depression or mania in adolescents. The illness can reoccur independently if the person experiences stress or can get worse with stress. Without proper treatment or medication manic depressive illness can come again or will get worse.

Substance abuse in adolescents and bipolar disorder

Some children are normal up until puberty and then experience a sudden onset of bipolar illness this children are more vulnerable to addiction to drugs and alcohol. Peers and teens may use drugs and alcohol to try and control their mood swings and insomnia. It is important to note that if substance abuse is diagnosed with bipolar disorder they must be treated at the same time.

Dramatic mood swings from very high to low and normal mood in between can be experienced by adolescent with bipolar. Dramatic changes in behavior, mood and energy level can swing from very high to very low. Bipolar highs are called mania, the low depression and the middle hippomania

The manic or mania stage in adolescents show an irritable and expansive mood, their happiness is unusual, difficulty in falling asleep and are not tired, talk a lot and are always talking, problems with concentrating, once they start talking it is hard to stop them and they are full of activities. Grandiose delusions are evident at the mania stage. Other signs are delusions of inflated knowledge, worth, power and identity. Hallucinations and engaging in risky activities are signs that the case is severe.

Latest treatments available:

Several methods of treating bipolar disorder are:

Taking medication

There are several types of bipolar medications. Doctors usually prescribe medications according to the symptoms and the severity of the condition. Sometimes, a combination of medications may be necessary to show desirable effects. Parents, however, should be aware that abruptly stopping these kinds of medication can harm the patient. So a doctor’s advice should always be sought.

Therapy that is commonly used for bipolar disorder in adolescent is the talk therapy known as psychotherapy. It is a good and effective therapy. The aim of this therapy is to change teens life style especially their daily routines and behaviors. To show any improvements patients require many sessions attending psychotherapy.

Support groups among bipolar patients

Bipolar support groups can learn and help each other by communicating and opening up to each other. Knowing that they are not alone and there are others out there who are also suffering from ups and downs people go through it is abnormal and more powerful. Some may try to commit suicide or harm themselves. Because of these problems, bipolar medication, therapies and support groups are all important in helping patients cope with the illness.

Appropriate action must be taken if your teen age child is showing signs of bipolar disorder. Bipolar disorder must not be taken for granted because it is very dangerous. This is not a normal ups and downs people go through it is abnormal and more powerful. Some may try to commit suicide or harm themselves. Because of these problems, bipolar medication, therapies and support groups are all important in helping patients cope with the illness.
