Fish Oil: Not A Vitamin But An Essential Fatty Acid

Most people know that Fish oil gives the body a lot of benefits. Besides the fact that it contains a lot of Omega-3 fatty acids, it has also been proven to help cure certain diseases. Our bodies do not naturally produce fatty acids and this is the reason why we have to eat certain food to get our daily dose of it.

Another source of omega-3 fatty acids is flax seed. Basically, it is not as well known as fish oil vitamins in terms of an example of a source of fatty acids but it is as effective. In fact, according to scientists, flax seed can also help our digestion to become smoother.

This is the reason why a lot of consumers are wondering which is a better source of fatty acids. This is what we should tackle more in order to understand which source is better for you.

Even though flax seed according to studies is relatively cheaper and it contains Omega 3 fatty acids as much as fish oil does, there are some people whose bodies do not convert the ALA fatty acids to omega 3. If this is the case, experts just recommend that people take another source of omega 3.

Fish oil can be another source of fatty acids because it doesn’t have to be converted. However, there is also a downside to fish oil. It must be noted that there are fish oils that have not been thoroughly cleaned or are not pure enough to contain the benefits that fish oil is supposed to have.

But then also, we must take note than in choosing fish oil, we must choose the purest that is available because unpurified fish oil won’t really do its job and will not provide people with benefits because it has already been polluted and there is a chance that when people take unpurified fish oils, they will also consume the heavy metals that will come with it.

So if you are given the chance to take flax seed and unpurified fish oil, it would be better to take flax seed because it will be better for the body. You can still consume healthy fishes in your diet if you would choose to. Do take note that there are still other sources of Omega 3 fatty acids such as certain vegetables and nuts.
