Possible Solutions To Dealing With Anxiety
Anxiety is being experienced by all people in their day-to-day lives which is characterized by feelings of nervousness, apprehension, fear and dread. An anxious individual shows signs of jittery and tense; but what will happen if it blocks your normal life? Anxiety makes us a situation of stress and actually it is just like a normal reaction.
The same way as our body reacts, it can also save us from danger. May be we feel unpleasant, it really stimulates an individual to become more cautious and concentrated upon. However, there are some occasions where we may experience a feel of uneasiness and worrisome immensely so much so that it casts a negative effect on a person’s life.
An anxiety disorder can be manifested in symptoms such as restlessness, fear, worry and irritability. Medical symptoms include an increased heart rate, breathlessness, excessive sweating, insomnia and nausea. Anxiety also causes depression because these symptoms also lead to it.
Sometimes a person gets an anxiety attack, which lasts for about ten minutes. It occurs without a warning, and is characterized by hot flashes, hyperventilation, chest pain, heart palpitations and temporary mania, and panic. The feeling is so terrible that one feels close to death.
Treatments for anxiety include some medications and some behavioral therapy sessions. A psychiatrist can help a victim of anxiety disorder by identifying the causes related to it and trying to help him avoid situations which may trigger such feelings in him. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps to recognize disturbing thought patterns and to overcome them.
Medications and Relaxation techniques also help a victim to gain control of this disorder. Meditation, Yoga and breathing exercises reduce feelings of anxiety to a large extent.
Some patients choose medication as a means of alleviating the problem, but drugs offer a temporary fix without doing anything about the root causes of the problem. These drugs include everything from beta blockers to Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors to Benzodiazepines. While they all work differently, they all help to control onsets of anxiety. It should be noted, however, that the biggest disadvantage to using drug therapy for anxiety disorders is that medications can lead to drug dependency and/or addiction.
Finally, another way to combat panic or anxiety disorder is to simply change your lifestyle. Getting the right amount of sleep, eating healthy foods and exercising properly can significantly improve a person’s overall physical health, but they can also be a great way to relieve stress and promote the proper functioning of organs. This helps to minimize the physical manifestations of anxiety and panic disorders.
