At the onset of a panic attack, you go with it for 30 seconds. Thing your heart will fail? Just let it go for thirty seconds. Afraid of passing out? Again, let it go for the time being. You probably understand the idea by now, so just keep in mind that if you feel an anxiety attack about to happen, just let it happen, only giving it 30 seconds to do what it wants to you.
Start counting backwards from 30, slowly, and give it enough time to pass. Now you may be wondering why this method works, most of the time. The main thing is the control that you have over the situation, which helps you oppose the anxiety attack, as you are in control of the attack, and setting the limits within which the attack can happen.
As a result, instead of feeling like a victim, you are empowered. Its important to remember not to count to quickly. Stay focused on your counting, even if it take longer than 30 seconds, that does not matter. Continue your countdown, slowly, moving backwards from 30 to 1. With a little practice you will come to realize that you can survive these panic attacks. Although it may feel like it, your heart will not burst and you will not pass out. You will be OK.
As time goes by, you will find that you achieve better control over the panic attack, as well as your own actions.
